Our Story

“He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring.” Going back to how it all started…

               Benoc & I started our high school fairy tale story way back 2007. I first met him when my friend introduced him to me randomly as he passed the corridor during our 1st year in High School. “Benoc, say hi to Gunday my friend”. Benoc honestly answered “Pangit ng pangalan mo”. The story ended there. Haha!

                All I thought it was just going to end there. 1st day of our second year, how lucky I am to be seated near my enemy lol. During our biology class, we clashed by exchanging opinions about our genetics topic. Suddenly, all of my classmates laughed about his opinion and so I felt nothing but extreme shyness. “Di ko makakalimutan to sabi ko pa sa sarili ko”. That was the time of “bahala ka dyan” moment of our life.

I didn’t know that was also the time he got attracted (yes girrrrrrrl this is

your moment). I was the leader of the Friday Cleaners group of our class and member

ko siya. Lumapit yung isang friend niya asking me…

“Fatima uuwi ka na ba?”

I answered “Hindi pa, tapusin ko lang to pero sige uwi na kayo”.  

“Ayun sakto, sabay daw si Benoc sayo kasi uuwi na kaming lahat”

(At bigla na talaga silang naglaho sabay sabay haha)

                 Little did I know, he was about to ask me if he can court me. Unfortunately, dead air ang moment namin sizzzz. So, he had no choice but to let it pass. After several months, maybe December na yun. Umuwi yung Papa niya from US. So ang dami niyang dalang kisses chocolates. Binigyan yata niya lahat ng classmates namin except ako. So, I’m wondering bakit ako wala? They keep on saying, hingi ka kay Benoc. Syempre pakipot tayo dapat sis, “Ay ayoko wag na lang”.

                  Pero binigyan niya ako nung di na talaga ako interested haha! Tatlo yon, kaso the moment na binigay niya nahingi rin agad lahat ng barkada niya. Di ako aware na yung nakasulat pala sa paper tail ng kisses is I love you. Haha so ayun he failed the second time. Pero sinagot ko naman din after several years haha!

                  Fast forward to our college years, we parted ways kasi need niya pumunta ng US for citizenship. We conquered long distance for almost a year or two. We split up for some reasons din and decided to just rekindle the friendship we had. I even wished him well before his scheduled bootcamp. From then on, we lost communication. I graduated and started working, siya naman pumasok ng military sa US.

                  Pero wala eh, sabi nga nila no matter what kung kayo talaga, the Lord will make His own way to put everything in place. 2017, I planned a surprise birthday party for him with his loved ones. Akala ko it was just a normal party, pero pressured ako sis kasi they keep on asking kung kami ba. Shookt ako kasi sabi niya yes. Haha! So we’re baaaaack nigga.

                  Let’s not cut the thrill here. December 23, 2018, he texted me “bihis ka magsamgyup daw tayo sa Clark”. I was about to say no kasi di ako Korean-type of person haha. Ilang beses ko na siya nireject sa invitation niya when it comes to Samgy. Pero the destiny made its way again, I answered “Okay what time?”. While we were eating na, I wasn’t aware na they were taking videos of us kasi may proposal na magaganap. This is it sisssums.

                  The Proposal. We visited Paris Café inside Clark Airbase para lang makita yung Eiffel Tower. Muntik pa kaming di nakapasok. Pero pinush talaga nila. We were waiting for the right time na makapagpapicture, kaso umulan kaya wala na kaming choice but to dine in. When it’s already our time to have our picture taken, may biglang nagpropose na couple. Haha tandang tanda ko how dismayed sila Tita Beybs sa nangyari. “Hala ang eepal naman nun nakapagpicture na sana tayo”. We were just there on top, watching the guy as he proposed to his girlfriend. Afterwards, bumaba na kami para makapagpapicture. Several poses here, ang dami rin camera there. One to sawa shots, then tadaaaaa he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring.

“B, will you marry me?”

Arte si ate girl, “Wait seryoso ba?!?”

“Hahahahaha yes seryoso ko”.

“Akala ko joke"

The Crowd goes: Fatima sagot sagot! Yes na dali.

Sa sobrang shocked ko sa nangyari, I failed to answer. So tumayo siya agad as he put the ring on my finger. “Wait bat tumayo ka na di pako nagyeyes!”
